National Instruments IEEE-488 Driver Help for ECC-PPCM Software
When using ECC IEEE-488 Software with the PPCM, the software cannot establish a data link with the PPCM. What can I do to correct this?
SOLUTION: This is typically seen when the drivers for the USB IEEE-488 GPIB Adapter have not installed properly or have not been installed at all. TestVonics recommends using on the USB-B USB GPIB Adapter or PCI Card. TestVonics has recorded several problems when using the USB-A USB cable and does not recommend using this adapter. If you are using a USB-B Adapter and are still having a problem connections, please follow these instructions to install or re-install the National Instruments driver software. PLEASE UNINSTALL any National Instruments software in the Control Panel prior to proceeding with these instructions.
In order to download files from National Instruments, you will first need to register. Registering is free and will allow you to log in and download the required files. Secondly, download the latest National Instruments NI-488.2 GPIB USB-B driver. Click here to download. After the file is downloaded, run the setup and follow the installation instructions on the screen. A reboot may be necessary after installation. After both of these programs are installed, plug in the NI GPIB USB-B into a free USB port. You should see the following screen appear once you have plugged in this device. Follow the prompts, selecting "No, not this time' on the first window and 'Install the software automatically' on the second window. Windows will then install the correct drivers for the device and allow it to function properly.
The Getting Started Wizard which allows you to verify that your hardware is working correctly. Click on 'Verify your hardware and software installation' and the system will check to see that the runtime and drivers were installed properly. If the USB-B GPIB hardware is working correctly and all three check marks appear you can try the IEEE-488 within ECC. Open a new session of ECC and connect the IEEE-488 end to King 3682 or PPCM. Then test the communication.
National Instruments USB GPIB Driver Installation (if above does not work)
